How To Open An Account

We have a wide variety of business accounts to suit your unique business banking needs.

Use the Business Solution Selector to find an RBC solution tailored to your unique needs.

Once you have identified your tailored solution, use our Branch Locator to find a local branch convenient to you and your business, then make an appointment for your Business Account Interview. Our Financial Service Representatives are eager to assist you with your Business needs.

Please bring the following when you visit the branch:

  •   your application
  •   your documentation
  •   your Primary Business Representatives

    Step 1: Choose your Business Account Application

  •   Small Business PDF
  •   Not for Profit/Association/Community Group PDF

    There is no need to complete the application in advance of your branch visit. The intent of the application is to ensure you understand the information required to open a Business Account.

    Of course, you may find it useful to gather some of the application's information in advance of your branch visit.

    Step 2: Prepare your business account documentation

    This business account documentation checklist Word will help you determine which documents you need.

    Step 3: Choose your Primary Business Representatives

    A. Corporations, Partnerships and Sole Proprietors:

    • Business Ownership: We require information on the business owners, i.e.: who is (are) the principal owners/partners shareholders of the business.
      • A principal owner/partner/shareholder is a person with an equity (ownership) interest in your business and who makes the key decisions on its behalf, and upon whom its success primarily depends.
      • Personal Information including Full Legal Name, Date of Birth, Address and Occupation is required from each principal owner (25% or greater equity interest in the business). Verified Identification is required from each of these principal owners.
    • Business Authorities: We require Personal information - including: Full Legal Name, Date of Birth, Address and Occupation - from all Authorized signing officers (who are not Business owners as noted above) to a minimum of 3 (where there are more than 3) Verified Identification is required from each of these authorities.

    B. Not for profit organizations, charities, societies, clubs, and associations and community accounts:

    We require personal information and verified Identification (as noted above) from the people who have been appointed to act on behalf of the organization/group (i.e.: Authorized signing officers).

    Please ensure the Business Owners and Business Authorities as described above are able to visit the branch with Two pieces of original identification (one with photo) for the Business Account Interview . Acceptable Identification includes: Driver's License, Passport, Citizenship, etc.
