You are on: How do I know which credit product is right for me? Everyone has different needs depending on individual circumstances. Our RBC® credit specialists will work with you to determine the best borrowing option for you. It may make sense for you to have a RBC Royal Credit Line® which will give you access to credit when you need it. On the other hand you may prefer to use an installment loan for a specific purchase. This type of loan may be the right choice for you if you are more comfortable with a regular monthly payment over a specified time frame.
You are on: How does RBC Royal Bank decide whether or not to approve my application for credit? When you apply for a Royal Credit Line, Personal Loan or an RBC Royal Bank credit card, you must demonstrate your ability to repay. In addition to checking your credit history from the credit bureaus and rating you on it, we use mathematical formulas to determine the balance between your income and your debt. If you have good credit and our calculations show that your total debt service ratio will allow you to comfortably manage the additional credit you're applying for, you will likely be approved. If you are not approved, we will help you understand the reasons why.
You are on: How can I reduce my debt load? One of the most convenient and effective ways to reduce or eliminate your debt load is to consolidate all your different borrowing solutions into a single personal loan. Combine your other loans, lines of credit, credit card balances and any other borrowing solutions into one loan, with a set schedule of payments. As a result, you will have only one payment to deal with and you will find it easier to pay off all your debt. Be sure to apply the interest savings realized by consolidating, to reduce the loan faster.
