ANSWER: When you are booking travel rewards, with the exception of Avion air travel rewards, you can always use points plus cash! 100 RBC Rewards points can be redeemed for $1 CDN towards the cost of your travel. There is no minimum point value needed to redeem, and the remaining balance can be paid with your RBC Royal Bank Visa card. QUESTION: What is the advantage of converting RBC Rewards points to Asia Miles (Cathay Pacific) or BA Miles (British Airways)?

ANSWER: Only RBC Avion cardholders+ and eligible RBC banking account holders can enjoy greater flexibility and benefits when converting points to our partner programs, including the ability to redeem for business class travel and access to the oneworld Alliance. RBC Rewards points are converted at a one to one ratio. For more details click here.

QUESTION: I already have a competitor’s credit card that earns travel reward points. What happens to my points if I cancel that card?

ANSWER: For most credit cards that are associated with an airline rewards program, any points you have earned are part of your membership in that program, not the credit card account. So any points you have already collected should remain yours – even after you cancel your credit card.
