The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF), www.cybf.ca, a national
charitable organization, can help you get there. How? With a mentor,
start-up financing and educational tools.
The mentor's a qualified, experienced businessperson who'll give you
advice and guidance regularly as you start your business. They're
located in your community and your relationship will be customized to
ensure that both you and your mentors' needs and schedules are met. The
loans are available in amounts up to $15,000, and repayments of three or
five years are available.
Learning resources include a business plan guide, a financial plan guide
and links to other valuable information.
Eligibility criteria for the CYBF Program:
- Between 18-34 years old
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Produce a complete and viable business plan
- Have been in business, fully operating, for less than 12 months
- Live or open the business in the community which is offering the CYBF program (there are over 960)
- Have some training / experience related to your business idea
- Agree to work with mentor for the duration of the loan term (3-5 years)
- Have a business that creates full-time sustainable employment for you
- Must hold at least 51% voting share in the business (if a partnership)
