2008 calendar highlights farmers' fresh thinking
As Paulette Martel shows us, a good idea can have a huge impact on a small community. Her photo, Seeding among giants, made a big impression with the judges of the 2007 RBC Farm Photography Contest. In a competition marked by many
compelling entries, the St. Leon, Man. photographer took home the $5,000 Grand Prize.
Joni Wooff of Saskatoon, whose family farms in Aberdeen and Turtleford, Sask.,
won Second Prize and $2,000 for Our future farmer.
These prize-winning pictures, and those of 10 other farm photographers, were selected
from among several hundred entries received from across Canada. The 12 winning
photographs are featured in the 2008 edition of the RBC Agriculture Calendar.
Brian Little, Head of Agriculture and Agribusiness at RBC®, applauds all the entrants for their creative and personal insights on the calendar’s theme of Fresh Thinking
for Today and Tomorrow.
"Every photo is both a powerful image and a powerful idea," says Little. "Clearly,
producers from coast to coast are using their ingenuity to make their businesses more
successful, sustainable and environmentally sound. This is a portrait of Canadian
agriculture that everyone should see."
