RBC Rewards® Life Experiences Redeem & Win Contest (the "Contest")
Official Contest Rules and Regulations (the "Contest Rules")

The sponsor of the Contest is Royal Bank of Canada (the “Bank” or “Sponsor”).

  1. Contest Period:

    The Contest starts on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 12:00 PM EDT and ends on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 11:59 PM EDT (the "Contest Period").

  2. How to Enter:

    No purchase necessary to enter or to win. Contestants can enter by visiting www.rbcrewards.com (opens new window) and redeeming their RBC Rewards points for retail gift cards and certificates during the Contest Period. Eligible cardholders automatically earn one (1) contest entry each time they redeem their RBC Rewards points for retail gift cards/certificates during the Contest Period.

    No purchase means of entry: To enter without purchase mail your name, with full home address, telephone number, email along with a unique, original, legible, handwritten [50-100] word essay (in English or French) describing your experience with an RBC® product to “RBC Rewards Life Experiences Redeem & Win Contest”, 15 Densley Ave, Toronto, Ontario, M6M 2P5. To be eligible, mail-in entries must be postmarked by 11:59 PM. EDT, on October 31, 2011. Mechanical reproductions will not be accepted. There is no limit to the number of mail in entries submitted provided each entry is in accordance with the requirements described in this paragraph.

  3. Eligibility:

    This Contest is only open to residents of Canada who have reached the age of majority in the province or territory of residence as of the first day of the Contest Period, and who are residing in Canada throughout the Contest Period. Employees, officers, directors, representatives and agents of the Bank, and their respective advertising, contest and promotional agencies and persons domiciled with any of the above are not eligible.

    Entrants who redeem RBC Rewards points for RBC Rewards retail gift cards and certificates must have an active RBC Royal Bank® credit card that earns RBC Rewards points and which remains open and in good standing throughout the Contest Period. RBC Royal Bank credit card holders that convert to another RBC Royal Bank credit card that earns RBC Rewards points during the Contest Period are also eligible. Those who transfer from an RBC Royal Bank credit card that earns RBC Rewards points to an RBC Royal Bank credit card that does not earn RBC Rewards points during the Contest Period will not be eligible.

    In the case of qualifying personal credit cards, this contest is only open to Primary cardholders. Business credit card holders are not eligible.

  4. Prizes:

    There will be three (3) Prizes available to be won each consisting of a $1000.00 CDN certificate for a LifeExperiences Spree — that’s $1,000 to put towards the purchase of a LifeExperiences.ca escape.     The total value of the 3 Prizes is approximately $3,000.00 CDN.

  5. Draw:

    The random prize draw will be conducted by Stincor Van Smith Marketing, an independent contest organization, in Toronto, Ontario on or about Tuesday November, 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. EDT, from among all eligible entries based on, and as determined solely by the Bank’s records at the end of the Contest Period, which records will be deemed final and conclusive on all matters.

  6. Odds of Winning/Skill-Testing Question/Declaration:

    The odds of winning will depend on the total number of eligible entries received. Before being declared an official winner, each selected eligible entrant will be contacted by email and/or telephone based on information contained in the Bank’s records or, in the case of no purchase entries, as provided on the entry submission. Potential winners must correctly answer unaided, a mathematical skill-testing question to be posed by telephone at a mutually convenient time, at the telephone number contained in the Bank’s records for the entrant or as provided on the no purchase entry submission. If a selected entrant incorrectly answers the skill-testing question or cannot be contacted within five (5) business days of the draw date, the entry will be disqualified and another eligible entry will be randomly selected until all Prizes have been awarded.

    The potential winner will be required to sign a standard Declaration of Compliance with Rules, Publicity and Liability Release form and consent in the form and manner provided, consenting to the use of their name, city or province/territory and/or photograph, without compensation, in any publicity carried out by the Bank and/or its affiliates, advertising and promotional agencies relating to this contest, including posting to a website, and releasing the Bank, the contest organizer and independent contest organization, its promotional agencies and each of the other prize sponsors and their respective, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents, from any liability relating to this contest or any of the prizes.

    If a potential winner fails to sign and return the required documents within 72 hours of receiving it by fax or email and/or within 10 days if by mail, the Bank reserves the right to void that entry and select another eligible entrant until the prize is awarded. The Sponsor or its contest agency will notify the winner to make arrangements for the awarding of his/her prize. The prize must be accepted by the winner as awarded and is non-transferable. If not accepted as awarded, prize will be forfeited. Any taxes, fees or incidental charges applicable to any prize shall be the sole responsibility of the winner of the prize.

  7. Substitution of Prize:

    The Bank reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to substitute a similar prize or component of a prize of equal or greater value without liability.

  8. Decisions Final/Property of the Bank:

    By entering or accepting a prize each entrant agrees to abide by these Contest Rules and the decisions of the Bank and the independent contest organization, which are final. All entries become the property of the Bank and none will be returned. No correspondence will be entered into except with the selected entrants.

  9. Lost/Stolen Entries/Cancelling Contest:

    The Bank, and each of its affiliates, is not responsible for entries that may be lost, damaged, illegible, irregular, misdirected, delayed or not received. The Bank, and each of its affiliates, will not be responsible for telephone, technical, operational, network, on-line, electronic, computer hardware or software failures of any kind, misdirected, stolen, incomplete, garbled or delayed Internet/e-mail, computer or telephone transmissions on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials relating to this Contest. If, for any reason, any portion of this Contest is not capable of running as planned or if the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest is corrupted or adversely affected, including without limitation by reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond its control, or for any other reason whatsoever, the Bank, in its sole and absolute discretion, subject to the approval of the Regie, may cancel, terminate, modify (including extending the Contest Period) or suspend the Contest without individual notice.   10. Quebec Residents:

    For residents of Québec: any litigation in regards to the conduct or organization of this contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (“Regie”) for a ruling. Any litigation in regards to the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for purposes of helping the parties reach a settlement.

    Un différend quant à l’organisation et la conduite d’un concours publicitaire peut être soumis à la Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (« Régie ») afin qu’il soit tranché. Un différend quant à l’attribution d’un prix peut être soumis à la Régie uniquement aux fins d’une intervention pour tenter de le régler.   11. Laws/Currency:

    This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations in Canada. This Contest is void where prohibited or otherwise restricted by law. All currency indicated in these Contest rules is in Canadian dollars.

  12. Privacy:
