Loss of life protection**
If you're a primary cardholder or a spouse of a primary cardholder under 80 years of age and were to lose your life, the BalanceProtector Premiere plan will ease the financial burden on the rest of your family by paying the balance on your credit card account at the date of death to a maximum of $25,000.
Critical illness protection**
If you're a primary cardholder or a spouse of a cardholder under 70 years of age and were to be diagnosed with certain critical illnesses for the first time (Cancer, Heart Attack or Stroke) and survive 30 days following diagnosis, the BalanceProtector Premiere plan would pay the balance owing on your credit card account at the date of diagnosis (up to a maximum of $25,000).
If you're a primary cardholder under 70 years of age and you become totally disabled, the BalanceProtector Premiere plan will make monthly credit card payments based on your balance as of the Statement Date coinciding with or immediately before the date of disability (up to a maximum of $25,000 or 20 months) as long as you're disabled. Disability benefits will commence after a set period of uninterrupted total disability, and thereafter you give proof of your continuing disability on request.
Involuntary unemployment protection**
If you're a primary cardholder under 70 years of age and you become unemployed due to a strike or lockout, dismissal without cause or involuntary layoff, the BalanceProtector Premiere plan will make monthly credit card payments based on your outstanding balance as of the Statement Date coinciding with or immediately before termination of employment until you resume working or your balance is reduced to zero (up to a maximum of $25,000 or 20 months).
Accidental dismemberment protection**
If you're a primary cardholder or a spouse of a primary cardholder and were to lose the sight in both eyes or lose a limb as a direct result of an accident, the BalanceProtector Premiere plan will pay the balance on your credit card at the date of accidental dismemberment (up to a maximum of $25,000).
Lifetime Milestone service
In the event of special milestones in your life, this service can pay one monthly benefit to your credit card account, based on a percentage of your outstanding credit card statement balance immediately prior to the date of the milestone occurrence, up to a maximum of $25,000. Milestones included are: retirement, purchase of a home for use as a principal residence, birth or adoption of a child or final payment of a mortgage loan. To be eligible to enroll for the BalanceProtector Premiere plan coverage you must be between the ages of 18 - 65 years of age and have entered into an RBC Royal Bank Credit Card Agreement.
Your BalanceProtector Premiere plan coverage will commence on the date that appears on your confirmation letter which will be sent with your Certificate of Insurance. Please read and retain your Certificate of Insurance as it is an important document, and it contains the Exclusions and Limitations of your coverage. Your coverage will cease upon request, or if your account fails to remain in good standing with the bank or if the group policy is terminated.
Premium for the BalanceProtector Premiere Plan coverage is 99 cents on each $100 of average daily balance calculated at the credit card statement date and is conveniently charged to your RBC Royal Bank credit card (plus applicable taxes).
