International Money Transfer

Sending an International Money Transfer is also convenient for your family and friends abroad. RBC has over 1,400 banking relationships worldwide that allow us to transfer money virtually anywhere in the world in most local currencies and, where permitted, in U.S. and Canadian Dollars.

To get started with the International Money Transfer service you will need:

  • An RBC chequing or savings account(7)
  • Be enrolled in the RBC Mobile app or RBC Online Banking (4)
  • The recipient’s bank account number /IBAN/CLABE (for Mexico) or the Business Identifier Code (SWIFT BIC/ABA) for the bank/branch where the funds are to be sent to or picked up.

Note: International Money Transfers can't be sent from any U.S. dollar accounts or the RBC High Interest eSavings account.

How to send an International Money Transfer

You are on: RBC Online Banking

  1. Sign in to RBC Online Banking.
  2. On the right side of the Accounts Summary page under Quick Payments & Transfers, select “International Money Transfer”.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

You are on: RBC Mobile app

  1. Open and sign in to the RBC Mobile app
  2. Tap on “Send Money” / “Move Money” and select “International Money Transfer”
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

2) Not available to recipients in Canada and restricted countries. If your Recipient lives in Canada, you can send them a free Interac e-Transfer from your RBC Royal Bank personal chequing account.

3) The sender must verify that the receiving financial institution accepts cash pick–up.

4) RBC Mobile is operated by Royal Bank of Canada, RBC Direct Investing Inc. and RBC Dominion Securities Inc. RBC Online Banking is operated by Royal Bank of Canada.

5) Excess debit transaction fee may also apply depending on the account. Additional service fees by any intermediary and receiving bank may apply. Currency conversion fees may also apply. The financial institution on the receiving end of the transaction may have other requirements.

6) If an unauthorized transaction is conducted through your RBC Online Banking service, you will be reimbursed for any resulting losses to those accounts. For a definition of an unauthorized transaction and for full details regarding the protections and limitations of the RBC Online Banking Security Guarantee, please see your Electronic Access Agreement (opens new window) This guarantee is given by Royal Bank of Canada in connection with its Online Banking and Mobile app services.

7) Must be enrolled in RBC Online Banking or the RBC Mobile app and have either a Canadian RBC Royal Bank chequing or savings account. Some restrictions may apply. Cannot send funds from a US dollar account, or the RBC High Interest eSavings account.
