ADVANTECH and a Unique Idea
In 1988, ADVANTECH, Advanced Microwave Technologies Inc., saw an opportunity to specialize in designing and manufacturing leading-edge solid state power amplifiers and sub-systems for the growing satellite and wireless industries.
ADVANTECH's early management and growth was driven almost solely by its entrepreneurial president, David Gelerman. As it grew, ADVANTECH found that it needed financial support from advisors with a unique understanding of knowledge-based industries, such as the large R&D costs and the need to pursue exporting opportunities.

"We're also working with RBC Royal Bank to explore opportunities for our company to offer financing to foreign customers," says chief financial officer François Binette. "And, RBC Royal Bank will also be helping us expand our physical facilities by tailoring our credit facilities to aid the expansion."

Based in Montreal, Québec, ADVANTECH is now a leading supplier of high-power amplifiers and converters for point-to-point microwave systems, satellite earth stations and VSAT applications. Its products are vital links in global telecommunications ranging from wireless cable TV services to two-way broadband communication systems for voice, data and image transmission.
