What is the RBC MyProject™ MasterCard‡?
The RBC MyProject MasterCard is a unique product that combines the convenient spending ability of a credit card with the repayment structure of a loan.
You can use this product like you would any other credit card at any retailer that accepts MasterCard. You can also write cheques or withdraw cash at nearly any ATM to pay contractors or service providers that do not accept MasterCard.
There is a set period of time (the purchase period) in which you can do your spending. Once your purchase period ends, the credit card expires and can no longer be used. The outstanding balance automatically converts into a loan with a set monthly payment amount, helping you to pay down your debt.

I'm not sure whether I should choose a fixed or variable rate loan. What's the difference?
With a fixed rate loan:
- Your interest rate is locked in for a 5-year term. However, an amortization (how long it takes to pay off your loan) of 5-15 years is available.
- You will know exactly how much interest you'll pay over the term of your loan (if your term is 5 years or less).
- Your payment amount and term will not be affected by changes in interest rates.
- You can switch to a variable rate at any time if rates fall.
With a variable rate loan:
- You can choose a 5 to 15-year amortization term.
- You could save money if interest rates are already low or fall further.
- If interest rates rise, your payments will likely stay the same, but your amortization term will increase.
- If interest rates fall, your payments will stay the same and your amortization term will decrease, meaning you could pay off your loan sooner.
- You can switch to a fixed rate at any time if rates go up.

After my account was converted to a loan, I received another credit card statement. Why?
This occurs when purchases are submitted late by a retailer or service provider. If this happens, there's nothing you need to do. Any transactions that show up after your account has converted to a loan will be added to your loan.
You always have at least 21 days to pay your new balance in full and avoid having the amount of these new transactions added to your loan. By doing so, you avoid interest charges on these transactions.
