Qualifying Criteria

I already have a banking account with RBC Royal Bank®. Can I still qualify for the Free Eee PC?

If you have an RBC Day to Day Banking® account or an RBC No Limit BankingTM account prior to May 1, 2008, you can still qualify to receive a Free Eee PC by upgrading to the RBC Signature No Limit Banking or the RBC VIP Banking® accounts and by completing the other qualification criteria. Visit your local branch for more details.

If you have a Signature No Limit account prior to May 1, you can still qualify to receive a Free Eee PC by upgrading to the RBC VIP Banking account and by completing the other qualification criteria.

If I open two accounts or a joint account, will I receive 2 Free Eee PCs?

Only one Eee PC will be awarded per client and/or per account. If you open a joint account, the Eee PC will be sent to the primary account holder only.

My spouse is an employee of RBC®, can I still qualify for the Free Eee PC?

Yes, as long as you are not an RBC staff member and are the primary owner of a new RBC Signature No Limit Banking or RBC VIP Banking account. Your will still need to complete all the qualifying criteria.

My employer does not use automated payroll deposit, can I still qualify for the Free Eee PC?

If you do not have an automated payroll or pension direct deposit, you can qualify if you have an eligible RBC Rewards® or RBC Specialty Rewards Visa* card and an eligible Royal Bank® investment with a minimum value of $2,500. If you currently do not have these products, you can open them at any RBC branch. For all new Visa card applications, our normal credit criteria apply.

What is CustomSwitch?

CustomSwitch® is the simple and easy way to transfer your pre-authorized payments (PAP) and balance from your account at another financial institution to RBC Royal Bank, at no cost to you.

What is a pre-authorized payment?

Pre-authorized payments are scheduled payments that you have initiated from your bank account. They are the paid out on the same day, to the same company. For example, if you pay property taxes, you can schedule them as pre-authorized payments so that it is taken each month from your account and paid to the city or town that you live in.

Pre-authorized payments are perfect for any monthly bills that are usually due on the same date each month. Most billers accept this service. Please check the front or back of any of your billing statements to determine if you are billed each month on a specific day, or find out by contacting your biller directly.

To qualify for the Free Eee PC, please make sure that your pre-authorized payments occur on a monthly basis or every two months (in the case of utility bills).

Why do I have to use CustomSwitch to switch my account from another financial institution?

We want to make it easier for you to switch your account from another financial institution to RBC Royal Bank. We can help coordinate the transfer of your account balance, pre-authorized payments and direct deposits to your new RBC account and arrange for your old account to be closed.

I’m a student. Can I qualify for a Free Eee PC?

Yes. As long as you have reached the age of majority in the province or territory in which you reside by the end of the promotional period (September 12, 2008). You will also need to meet all the other required criteria.

Can I qualify for the Free Eee PC and for your MultiProduct Rebate?

Yes. The MultiProduct Rebate is unique to RBC and it automatically gives you a rebate on your account as long as you have all the qualifying products. It’s our way of making customers feel appreciated.

What is an Eee PC and what are the features?

Eee PC stands for Easy to learn, Easy to work, Easy to play. It’s great for people on the go. It’s compact and lightweight. It allows you to surf the Web, upload pictures, and stay in touch with your friends and family.

What is the model of the Eee PC?

It’s the Eee PC 2G Surf, only available in white.

Fulfillment/Delivery of the Eee PC

When can I expect my Free PC to arrive?

Once all qualifying requirements are fulfilled, you can expect to receive the Eee PC within 10-12 weeks, which is the time required to send a notification letter, have the client confirm their shipping information, and have the supplier ship the Eee PC.

How will I know when I've qualified for the Free Eee PC?

It is your responsibility to meet all criteria. Once you have opened an RBC Signature No Limit Banking account or RBC VIP Banking account and met all the required criteria, we will send you a notification via mail to the address in our files. For new clients using CustomSwitch, the time it takes to qualify will also depend on the financial institution you're switching from and whether they transfer the funds in a timely manner.

Your notification letter will then direct you to log in to a secure Web site and enter the unique PIN contained in your letter. Here you will confirm your shipping address and preferred language (English or French only) for the Eee PC. You will also receive the shipping company’s tracking code when you provide us with your email address so that you can log into the shipping company’s online tracking system to determine when your Eee PC will arrive. You will receive your PC approximately 10-12 weeks after you have completed all the required criteria.

Why do I need a unique PIN?

The unique PIN will provide you with an extra layer of security designed to ensure that your Eee PC arrives at the correct address and with your preferred language configuration. If you move after you have opened your account, please provide us with your new mailing address as soon as possible.

Is the website address secure?

Yes. It is hosted by the vendor that RBC has authorized to ship the Eee PC.

Is there a tracking code available when you send the Eee PC?

Yes. When you provide us with an email address, we will be able to send you the Purolator tracking code, so that you can personally track the delivery status of the Eee PC.

I will be moving in a month. How can I ensure that the Eee PC will be sent to my new address?

Please provide us with your new address as soon as possible to ensure that you receive the confirmation letter. In the case that we don't receive your new address in time, please ensure that you re-direct your mail to your new address using Canada Post’s free forwarding service. When you receive the confirmation letter, please visit the Web site indicated and enter your new address to ensure you receive your Free Eee PC.
