Working With a Contractor

Suppliers

Call the contractor's suppliers to make sure that they're paying their bills. This is particularly important because, if your contractor defaults on payments to suppliers or tradespeople after you have paid for your project, these unpaid suppliers could have a lien placed on your property. This means that you can't sell your house or renew your mortgage until the suppliers are paid and the lien is removed.
