Health & Longevity
Canadians today are living longer, healthier lives and, as such, need their savings to last longer.
Statistically, most people who reach age 65 without significant health problems can reasonably expect to live at least another 20 years. Over one-third of individuals now between the ages of 55 and 65 will live well beyond the age of 90.
This fact, compounded with the rising cost of healthcare, pose two of the greatest financial concerns facing retired Canadians today.
Ask yourself:
- are you generally in good health or do you have some concerns?
- does your family have a history of longevity?
- do you have appropriate health insurance in place, particularly if you plan to live outside of Canada?
- have you made provisions for extended healthcare for you and your spouse in later years if the need arises?
- have you made adequate provisions for a surviving spouse or other loved one?
