The application takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, provided you have assembled the information required in advance. We recommend you print and completely fill out the application checklist before attempting to apply online.

3. May I submit my application in French?

Yes, you may submit your application in either of Canada’s official languages, French or English. However, applications must be completed and submitted using a single language.

4. Is it possible to submit an application by mail or fax?

No. Applications for the RBC Royal Bank Scholarship for New Canadians may only be submitted online.

5. What are the technical requirements needed to submit an online application?

You don’t need to have any special applications or programs to complete our application. However, there are a few things you should know about your browser and security:

JavaScript
Ensure you have JavaScript enabled on your browsers. Most browsers are set to run JavaScript by default. Please access your browser’s online help function to check whether your browser supports JavaScript or to find out how to configure your browser to run JavaScript.

Optimization
The online application is optimized for the following operating systems and browsers:

Windows OS
Mozilla Firefox 1.0+
Microsoft Internet Explorer V. 5.0+
Mac OS
Mozilla Firefox 1.0+
Microsoft Internet Explorer V. 5.0+
* Safari is not compatible

Cookies
Please ensure your browser is set to accept cookies. Again, most browsers are set to accept cookies by default.

Security
To submit an application, you’ll need to have a 128-bit encryption pack installed in your browser. The 128 bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificate provides strong encryption for Internet transactions and is a worldwide standard for securing online e-commerce and banking transactions. 128 bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is standard on all of the above browsers.

6. May I enter with a partner or as part of a team?

No. You must submit your application as an individual, and relate only your personal experiences, or those of your immediate family with whom you live. You may also mention members of your extended family, provided you were personally involved and shared in the experience as well.

7. Will I be required to submit transcripts, report cards or letters of recommendation?

Letters of recommendation are not required. You do not need to submit transcripts when you apply online. However, should you be selected as a finalist, you may need to submit an official school transcript for the purposes of verifying your grade average. You may also be required to submit proof of enrolment at an accredited Canadian college or university.

8. I don’t understand one of the essay questions on the application. Where can I go for help?

For examples and details to help you understand how to answer the essay questions, please print and review the application checklist. You can also contact our RBC Royal Bank Scholarship Support Centre for help.

9. Is there a page or word limit to the essay questions?

Yes, there are word limits you must follow for the essay questions. For details on each question, please print and review the application checklist. Scholastic references will not be included in your word count.

10. What happens if I exceed the word limit on an essay question?

We strongly encourage you to stay within the word limit, as this is the only way to guarantee that your written entries will be received exactly as you intended. Otherwise, you may run the risk of your essay answers being truncated and/or cut off at the word limits.

11. When is the last date I can submit my application?

All online applications must be completed and submitted by Monday, June 9, 2008, 11:59:59pm EST.

12. How will I know if you have received my application?
