Hotels will usually cash travellers cheques for their guests free of charge, but to avoid paying fees at other establishments, use your cheques to purchase goods and services whenever you can.
Record the serial numbers of your cheques as you use them, and keep this list separate from the numbers of your unused cheques. This makes replacement easier if they are lost or stolen.
