Fees and Charges

The following outlines the fees and charges that may be applicable to RBC Visa Gift Cards purchased at an RBC Royal Bank branch. Fees are subject to change.

Fees and Charges
Maintenance Fee	There are no maintenance fees charged for the first six months after the card is purchased. After this time, a monthly $1.50 will be charged until the balance on the card reaches $0. To avoid this fee, the full balance on the card should be used within six months of the card's purchase date.
Replacement Fee	$15.00 fee – charged to replace a card (including a lost, stolen or damaged card). Cards must be registered at www.myrbccardbalance.com in order to be replaced.
Expiry Fee	Upon the expiry of the card, a fee will be charged equal to the value of the balance remaining on the card. An amount equivalent to the aggregate of all expiry fees collected will be donated to a charity that is supported by Royal Bank of Canada, such as an RBC Blue Water Project™ grant recipient.
Foreign Currency Conversion	Transactions in a foreign currency will be converted into Canadian dollars no later than the date we post the transaction to your Card at an exchange rate that is 2.5% over a benchmark rate Royal Bank of Canada pays the payment card company on the date of conversion.
Usage Fees	There are no usage fees charged when making purchases at merchants or to check balances online or by phone.
