Prepaid Visa Gift Card Fees and Charges

The following outlines the fees and charges that may be applicable to Visa Gift Cards. Visa Gift Cards are not credit cards and as such, these fees have been put in place to cover the costs of providing certain services. Fees are subject to change.

Purchase Fee	$3.95 fee–one time charge when the card is initially purchased. There is no usage fee charged when making purchases at merchants.
Maintenance Fee	There are no maintenance fees charged for the first 6 months after the Card is purchased. After this time, a monthly $1.50 fee will be charged until the balance on the Card hits $0. To avoid this fee, use the full balance on the card within six months of the purchase date.
Replacement Fee	$15.00 fee — charged to replace a Card (including lost, stolen, and damaged Cards). Cards must be registered at www.myrbccardbalance.com in order to be replaced if lost or stolen.
Expiry Fee	Upon the expiry of the Card, a fee will be charged equal to the value of the balance remaining on the Card. An amount equivalent to the aggregate of all expiry fees collected will be donated to a charity that is supported by Royal Bank of Canada, such as the Canadian Olympic Foundation in support of Own the Podium.
Foreign Currency Markup	2.5% above the bench mark rate set by the payment card company when the transaction is posted.
