Terms and Conditions of Consent to Receive Electronic Delivery of Statements and Notifications for Your Account

The following agreement and consent (this "Consent" will govern the electronic delivery of Statements and Notifications (each as defined below) to you. You are required to read the terms and conditions of this Consent set out below before accepting them. Upon acceptance this Consent will be binding on you and on RBC Royal Bank.

You consent to the electronic delivery of your Statements and Notifications subject to the following terms and conditions:

1. Definitions

"Account" means the banking account held with RBC Royal Bank to which this consent in relation to delivery option applies;

"Credit Card Account" means the credit card account held with RBC Royal Bank to which this consent in relation to delivery option applies;

"Information" means important information that is attached to your statement (similar to the information located on the back of paper Statements);

"Legal Information" means legal and regulatory information delivered with your Statements, including, without limitation, changes to your account agreement or credit card agreement or pricing changes (similar to inserts enclosed with paper statements or information provided on Statements themselves);

"Notifications" means Information and Legal Information;

"RBC Royal Bank" means the RBC entity, including RBTT legal entities, with which you have your account or credit card;

"Statements" means periodic account statements provided pursuant to your account agreement or credit card agreement;

"Secured Message Centre" means our online communication center located in your RBC Electronic Banking Solution where information may be securely communicated between you and us;

"You" and "Your" mean the individual, corporations whether aggregate or sole, unincorporated bodies and any other entity or organisation with an account or a credit card account with access and appropriate view and transact user permissions on Electronic Banking Solution and "we" "us" and "our" means the RBC Royal Bank entity with whom you hold such account or credit card.

2. Consent to receive Electronic Delivery of Statements and Notifications

You can choose to receive paper or electronic statements. By accepting these terms and conditions and electing to receive electronic statements you consent to receive Statements and Notifications in electronic form ("eStatement") via our electronic banking solutions rather than in paper form ("paper Statement").

3. When Consent Takes Effect

a. You can elect to receive electronic Statements and Notifications instead of paper Statements and Notifications in the manner set out in sub-clause b. below.

b. (i) For individual accounts, you can opt to receive only electronic statements on the account by using the feature on RBC’s Electronic Banking Solutions;

(ii) For joint accounts on which the signing authority is “any to sign” any joint holder can opt to receive only electronic statements on the account by using the feature on RBC’s Electronic Banking Solutions;
(iii) For joint accounts on which the signing authority is “all to sign”, the clients can opt to receive electronic only statements on the account by bringing in written instructions together with this Consent signed by all account holders to the Branch at which their account is held.
(iv) For Credit Cards either the Primary Card Holder or Co-applicant can opt to receive only electronic statements on the account by using the feature on RBC’s Electronic Banking Solutions
(v) For Companies, partnerships and other businesses in Trinidad and Tobago a Super User or anyone authorised by a Super User can opt to receive only electronic statements on the account by using the feature on RBC’s Electronic Banking Solutions. In the Dutch Caribbean any authorised user can opt to receive only electronic statements on the account by using the feature on RBC’s Electronic Banking Solutions.
(vi) In both Trinidad and Tobago and the Dutch Caribbean companies, partnerships and other businesses can also opt to receive electronic only statements on the account by bringing in written instructions together with this Consent signed as permitted under their account authorizations to the Branch at which their account is held.
(vii) For credit cards the Primary Card Holder and Co-Applicant(s) may give an Authorized User (as defined in the relevant credit card agreement) who has been granted access to RBC’s Electronic Banking Solutions in relation to the credit card account, the ability to opt to receive electronic only statements in relation to the credit card account and this will bind the Primary Card Holder, the Co-applicant(s) and the authorized user.

c. Where you opt to receive only electronic Statements and Notifications in the manner set out under subclauses b (i), (ii) (iv) and (v) above your instruction will take effect immediately, although depending on your Statement date, you may receive one more paper statement and/or Notification in the mail. Where you opt to receive only electronic Statements and Notifications in the manner set out under  subclause b (iii), (vi) or (vii) above your instruction will take effect in 2 business days after the documents are deposited at the branch, although depending on your Statement date, you may receive one more paper statement and/or Notification in the mail.


d. The terms and conditions on your account agreement remain applicable.

4. Electronic delivery

You acknowledge that:
a. Electronic Statements that are currently in your archive of Statements may be accessed through links in RBC's Electronic Banking Solution.
b. Information and certain Legal Information may appear on Statements. The Bank in its sole discretion may send Legal Information via any of the following channels: via the Message Centre, via the Bank's public website, via mail, in branches or any other appropriate channel.

5. Document Options

a. You can change your preference from electronic to paper Statements and Notifications at any time in the manner set out in sub-clause b. below.


b. (i) For individual accounts, you can opt to receive paper statements on the account by using the feature on RBC’s Electronic Banking Solutions; 
(ii) For joint accounts on which the signing authority is “any to sign” any joint holder can opt to receive paper statements on the account by using the feature on RBC’s Electronic Banking Solutions;
(iii) For joint accounts on which the signing authority is “all to sign”, the clients can opt to receive paper  statements on the account by bringing in written instructions together with this Consent signed by all account holders to the Branch at which their account is held.
(iv) For Credit Cards either the Primary Cardholder or a Co-applicant card holder can opt to receive paper statements on the account by using the feature on RBC’s Electronic Banking Solutions.
(v) For Companies, partnerships and other businesses in Trinidad and Tobago a Super User or anyone authorised by a Super User can opt to receive paper statements on the account by using the feature on RBC’s Electronic Banking Solutions. In the Dutch Caribbean any authorised user, can opt to receive paper statements on the account by using the feature on RBC’s Electronic Banking Solutions.
(vi) In both Trinidad and Tobago and the Dutch Caribbean companies, partnerships and other businesses can also opt to receive paper statements on the account by bringing in written instructions together with this Consent signed as permitted under their account authorizations to the Branch at which their account is held.
(vii) For credit cards the Primary Card Holder and Co-Applicant(s) may give an Authorized User (as defined in the relevant credit card agreement) who has been granted access to RBC’s Electronic Banking Solutions in relation to the credit card account, the ability to opt to receive paper statements in relation to the credit card account and this will bind the Primary Card Holder, the Co-applicant(s) and the authorized user.

c. Your switch from “electronic only” to “paper” statements will take effect immediately. Please note it may take from 1 to 3 months to receive your first paper Statement (may vary based on the statement cycle for  the specific account type e.g. transactional/credit card accounts - monthly statements  or savings –quarterly statements).

6. Contact Information

You will advise us of any changes to the contact information that you have provided in connection with RBC’s Electronic Banking Solutions.

7. Availability

It is your responsibility to retain a copy of each Statement and Notification by saving or printing a copy while it is available to view in RBC's Electronic Banking Solution. If you require a duplicate statement, you may request a paper copy through your branch and regular fees may apply. You can request paper statements for up to the retention period in the jurisdiction where your account or credit card is held. For information on the retention period in the jurisdiction where your account or credit card is held, please contact your branch.

8. Technical Requirements

All electronic Statements and Notifications are in PDF format and you are required to have Adobe Reader software installed on your computer or device used to access them. RBC Royal Bank is not the owner or operator of Adobe Software and accepts no liability or responsibility for Adobe software.

9. Provision of Paper Statements and Notifications

The Bank in its sole discretion may provide you with paper Statements and Notifications if we deem it appropriate or if we are unable to provide you with eStatements.

10. Changes to this Consent

We may change the terms of this Consent by providing you with written or electronic notice, which may include notification via any one of the following channels: in your electronic Statement; in the Message Centre available through our Electronic Banking Solutions; via the bank's public website, notifications in branches or via post. If you access your Electronic Banking Solution after the effective date of the change it will mean that you have agreed and consented to the change.


The following additional Terms and Conditions are applicable to all accounts other than Credit Card Accounts:

11. Review your Electronic Statement

You are required to review your electronic Statement in a timely manner and within the time periods, if any, in your agreement with us. Should you have any inquiries on any transaction on your latest statement, kindly notify the Bank in writing within 30 days of the statement date or we will consider our records to be correct and final, except for credits improperly applied to your Account.

The following additional Terms and Conditions are applicable to Credit Card accounts only:

12. Co-Applicant Access to Card Statements

If there is a co-applicant card on your Card Account, that co-applicant will be able to access any current or older electronic Statement available for viewing through RBC’s Electronic Banking Solution from the time they are added to your Card Account, on the condition that the co-applicant is also enrolled for the RBC’s Electronic Banking Solutions. For business accounts, only authorised users with view transaction history and view account balance information will have access to view eStatements.

13. Review your Electronic Statement

You are required to review your electronic Statement in a timely manner and within the time periods, if any, in your agreement with us. Should you have any inquiries on any transaction on your latest statement, kindly notify the Bank in writing within 15 days of the statement date or we will consider our records to be correct and final, except for credits improperly applied to your Account.

14. Payment

You may make Payments via RBC's Electronic Banking Solution (which may include Telephone Banking where available), automatic debit to your deposit account, via the ATM, or by account debit, cheque or cash payment made at any branch of the Bank.
