They wanted to redefine how healthcare is delivered to women in Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-vision-for-women-s-health-built-by-women\">A vision for women\u2019s health, built by women<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Lume, women in midlife may face gaps in the health system, with their physical, mental and hormonal health needs overlooked. Gaps may include concerns related to perimenopause, menopause, as well as gender-specific concerns around cardiovascular health, metabolic function and brain health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lume\u2019s mission is to close those gaps and change the narrative surrounding women\u2019s health. By offering tailored, personalized care at a pivotal stage of life, the founders aim to provide women with the healthcare they deserve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-breaking-barriers-in-business-and-health\">Breaking barriers in business and health<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As a women-founded and women-led business, Lume faced obstacles on two fronts: outdated models of care and systemic barriers to entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wekh.ca\/research\/the-state-of-womens-entrepreneurship-in-canada-2024\/\" data-dig-id=\"LP-95711-16885a7e\" data-dig-category=\"LP\" data-dig-action=\"link click\" data-dig-label=\"2024 State of Women\u2019s Entrepreneurship in Canada report\" class=\"rbc-link-format\">2024 State of Women\u2019s Entrepreneurship in Canada report<\/a>, only 18.4 per cent of businesses are majority-owned by women, and women founders receive just four per cent of venture capital funding. But Lume\u2019s leadership team \u2014 which brings together decades of expertise in medicine, business and wellness \u2014 refused to let those statistics define their future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead, they leaned into their conviction: Personalized solutions for women\u2019s unique wellness needs aren\u2019t a niche, but a necessity. After all, women spend <a href=\"https:\/\/asm.org\/articles\/2025\/may\/closing-the-women-s-health-gap#:~:text=A%202024%20McKinsey%20report%20found,poor%20health\" data-dig-id=\"LP-95711-7ce4d9b6\" data-dig-category=\"LP\" data-dig-action=\"link click\" data-dig-label=\"25% more of their lives\" class=\"rbc-link-format\">25% more of their lives<\/a> in poor health compared to men, and are diagnosed later than men for more than 700 diseases. For the founders, the urgency was clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOne of the biggest hurdles has been this shift in mindset: Care for a woman is different than it is for her counterpart. We\u2019ve been directly compared to something we are not,\u201d says Christine Lacey, Director of Strategic Partnerships at Lume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-turning-vision-into-reality\">Turning vision into reality<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For Lume&#8217;s founders, bringing their vision to life required more than medical expertise. It meant building a business model, attracting clients and finding the right partners to launch and scale. From HR leaders to thought leadership teams, the bank introduced Lume to a network of decision-makers who could amplify their reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey enveloped us within the network, taking us under their wing \u2014 both as a business and as people.
