Before that, she helped reshape the future of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cybercap.qc.ca\/\">CyberCap<\/a>, a nonprofit that equips young people with digital and cyber security skills. Across every role she\u2019s held, one theme remains constant \u2013 a willingness to step into spaces where she doesn\u2019t necessarily \u201cbelong\u201d and build something meaningful anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-early-risks-and-reinvention-shaped-dubant-s-entrepreneurial-path\">Early risks and reinvention shaped Dubant\u2019s entrepreneurial path<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dubant grew up in France in a family where entrepreneurship was part of everyday life. Her grandparents founded a business in the sports industry, and her father was also an entrepreneur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI was surrounded by people who weren\u2019t afraid to take risks,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At 14, she left home to study hospitality \u2013 an industry that appealed to her desire to serve and care for others. By 15, she was already working summers in hotels and restaurants, building experience that would shape her leadership style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But school wasn\u2019t easy. Dubant struggled with dyslexia and often felt out of place in traditional classrooms. One teacher even told her she would never be able to speak English. \u201cFor a long time, I believed I wouldn\u2019t succeed in life,\u201d she recalls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of discouraging her, those experiences pushed her to carve out her own path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At 21, she opened a coffee shop in Vancouver with a partner \u2013 a venture that promptly failed and cost her everything she invested.&nbsp; \u201cIt was a disaster,\u201d she says with a smile. \u201cBut that\u2019s how you learn.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More ventures followed, including an events business that organized hundreds of weddings a year. Moves between countries, including Canada and France, meant repeatedly rebuilding her career from scratch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each reinvention brought her closer to the work that would define her path forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-chance-opportunity-revealed-a-natural-talent-for-fundraising\">A chance opportunity revealed a natural talent for fundraising<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dubant\u2019s transition into philanthropy happened unexpectedly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After joining an organization that asked her to help raise funds, she quickly discovered she had a rare ability to connect with causes that mattered to them. In her first donor meeting, she secured a significant gift \u2013 unusual for someone new to the job. It was a moment that sparked a new direction for her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dubant went on to study fundraising formally at the Lilly School of Philanthropy in the U.S., learning the strategy and discipline behind what she describes as a powerful but often misunderstood skill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFundraising is about helping people invest where their heart beats,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the years, she became known for building programs and departments from the ground up \u2013 from launching a philanthropy division for a media organization to creating a new foundation for the YWCA in Quebec. But her most transformative work was still to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-applying-an-entrepreneurial-mindset-to-social-impact-at-cybercap\">Applying an entrepreneurial mindset to social impact at CyberCap<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When Dubant joined CyberCap, the nonprofit was at a critical moment. One of its programs was at risk of closing and funding for nonprofits across Quebec was tightening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The organization\u2019s mission \u2013 to support youth who had dropped out of school \u2013 resonated deeply with her. \u201cThese were young people who had been told they weren\u2019t good enough,\u201d she says. \u201cI knew exactly what that felt like.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a parent of school-aged children herself, the work carried an additional layer of meaning. After all, the digital world these students were navigating would shape her own children\u2019s futures as well. That perspective strengthened her determination to ensure young people \u2013 especially those who struggled in traditional systems \u2013 still had opportunities to succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drawing on her entrepreneurial mindset, Dubant set out to reinvent what CyberCap could offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within months, she raised $600,000 to launch a new program teaching cyber security and artificial intelligence to youth who had left the traditional school system \u2013 skills that could open doors to stable, well-paying careers. She also expanded the organization\u2019s work in schools across Quebec, bringing hands-on digital literacy education directly into classrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within two years, CyberCap\u2019s programs expanded to more than a dozen regions across Quebec, including smaller towns and communities that typically lacked this kind of cutting-edge training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Dubant didn\u2019t stop there, saying \u201cyes\u201d to every opportunity, even when it scared her. She joined international forums on AI and cyber security, launched a podcast to bring global voices into the conversation and advocated for the inclusion of nonprofit and youth perspectives in spaces typically dominated by large corporations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI went into every place where I didn\u2019t belong,\u201d she says. \u201cBut that\u2019s how we put CyberCap on the map.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-building-what-s-next-a-new-chapter-at-the-canadian-centre-for-architecture\">Building what\u2019s next: A new chapter at the Canadian Centre for Architecture<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After helping CyberCap secure funding and momentum for the years ahead, Dubant made another bold decision. She left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was a grief for me,\u201d she says of the difficult choice. \u201cBut I am an entrepreneur. My role is often to build something, bring it to life and then pass it on.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her next challenge was joining the Canadian Centre for Architecture as Chief of Advancement \u2013 a newly created role responsible for developing fundraising and partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At first glance, architecture might seem far removed from her previous work. But Dubant sees it differently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cArchitecture shapes how we live,\u201d she explains. \u201cIt affects how communities gather, how cities function and even how healthy people are.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once again, she is building something new by creating the organization\u2019s advancement strategy and expanding its capacity to engage supporters around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside this work, Dubant is also taking on a personal challenge: writing a book about fundraising. The goal is to make the discipline more practical and accessible for nonprofits and social entrepreneurs looking to build sustainable impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-dubant-s-advice-for-women-entrepreneurs\">Dubant\u2019s advice for women entrepreneurs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Through every stage of her journey, Dubant has faced uncertainty, criticism and moments of doubt. Her advice for women looking to create impact is practical and hard-earned:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-rbc-list is-style-blue-disc\">\n<li class=\"wp-block-rbc-list-item\">\n<p><strong>Trust your instinct.<\/strong> Entrepreneurs often second-guess their intuition, she says. But that inner voice can be a powerful guide.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-rbc-list-item\">\n<p><strong>Choose carefully whose advice you follow<\/strong>. \u201cToo many people will have opinions,\u201d she says. \u201cMake sure you listen to the ones who truly care about your growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-rbc-list-item\">\n<p><strong>Expect growing pains<\/strong>. Challenges are not signs of failure. Rather, they\u2019re signs that you\u2019re evolving. \u201cIf there is pain, it means you\u2019re growing,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-rbc-list-item\">\n<p><strong>Ask for help<\/strong>. Leadership doesn\u2019t mean having every answer. Dubant continues to rely on mentors and trusted advisors. \u201cDon\u2019t be afraid to say, \u2018I don\u2019t know,\u2019\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-rbc-list-item\">\n<p><strong>Stay connected to your purpose<\/strong>. For Dubant, she has never doubted the \u201cwhy\u201d behind the work she does. \u201cI\u2019m very clear about why I\u2019m here,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-moment-of-recognition-and-a-reminder-to-keep-going\">A moment of recognition and a reminder to keep going<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When Dubant was named a finalist for the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards, the recognition carried profound personal meaning. For someone who once believed she wasn\u2019t capable of success, the moment felt like validation \u2013 not just of her work, but of the journey that brought her there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI cried,\u201d she admits. \u201cAnd I never cry. It felt like a moment where life said, \u2018You did it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She keeps her name tag from the gala event in her desk \u2013 and peeks at it regularly. It\u2019s a reminder of what\u2019s possible. \u201cIt\u2019s in my drawer. When I have doubt, it\u2019s fuel for me to say, okay, I can do this. It\u2019s an extra motivation. It was a very humbling experience and one of the best in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She hopes her story resonates with at least one person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI promise you, if you had seen me when I was young, you would not have seen me here today,\u201d she says. \u201cFor others who feel like I once did, keep pushing through, listen to your inner voice and connect with your purpose. And you\u2019ll find your way.
