Scammers may:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-rbc-list is-style-blue-disc\">\n    <li class=\"wp-block-rbc-list-item\"><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Gather details from public profiles<\/strong>: These are rich with valuable details, such as a school name, hometown, sibling or favourite team.<\/p><\/li>\n    <li class=\"wp-block-rbc-list-item\"><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reference real friends, schools or interests<\/strong>: Those details add immediate credibility. Because kids and teens often look to their peers for what\u2019s trustworthy, fake comments and endorsements can be especially convincing.<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-red-flags-to-watch-for\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Red flags to watch for<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whatever the scam looks like, there are common warning signs to watch for. Kids often stay quiet because they\u2019re embarrassed or afraid they\u2019ll lose the account or the device.
