Part H: Gift Card Services – Terms and Conditions

  1. Introduction. The terms and conditions of Part H apply only when you use the Gift Card Services.
  2. Gift Card Services.

    a) You authorize and direct RBC and any Third Party Service Provider of the Gift Card Service (for the purposes of this Part H, "we" or "us") to do, on your behalf, all things necessary to provide the Gift Card Services to you. This may include providing Retailers or their Gift Card processors with the applicable Gift Card Number so that we can access, retrieve and download relevant information about your Gift Card, such as the balance on your Gift Card, as well as complete any Gift Card Service that you request. You confirm to us you have the right to give us this authorization and direction.

    b) From time to time, we or Retailers may provide you with Gift Card Offers. If you accept a Gift Card Offer, you authorize and direct us to (1) contact the provider of the Gift Card Offer; (2) receive information from the provider relating to your Gift Card Offer; and (3) periodically access data related to your Gift Card Offer.
  3. Purchasing and Reloading Gift Cards. You may use an eligible Funding Source to purchase new Gift Cards or reload funds to a Gift Card. Once you have purchased or reloaded a Gift Card using the Gift Card Service, the transaction is final and cannot be reversed.

Gift Card purchases and reloads are subject to your Client Card Third Party Payment limits for CAD Deposit Account(s) and the credit limit on your CAD Credit Card Account(s), as applicable.
  4. Using Gift Cards. You acknowledge and agree that the use of any Gift Card is subject to terms and conditions set by Retailers.  We do not own or control the terms, conditions and other details about Gift Cards. Gift Cards are provided on our Apps solely as a convenience to you, and we make no representations about, do not endorse, and are not responsible or liable for: (i) the terms, conditions and other details about Gift Cards; and (ii) the goods or services offered by Retailers. Certain Retailers allow you to redeem Gift Cards that you have loaded on to our Apps in their stores. If you have questions or problems with your Gift Cards, or anything you buy using your Gift Cards, you agree to settle the problem directly with the Retailer. We are not responsible for the failure of any Retailer to honour a Gift Card for any reason, including the insolvency or bankruptcy of that Retailer.

Some Retailers may not offer Gift Cards, terms and conditions or notices in the language of your choice.  Gift Cards, product descriptions, redemption information and Retailer terms are provided by the Retailers at their discretion and questions should be directed to the Retailers.
  5. Send as a Gift. You may choose to send a Gift Card to a Gift Card Recipient as a gift. Not all Gift Cards are eligible for this service. If you send a Gift Card, you acknowledge and agree that:

    a) Initiating a Gift. After you initiate a gift using the Gift Card Service, we will remove the Gift Card from the RBC Wallet and send an electronic message (such as an email or text message) to the Gift Card Recipient using contact information that you provide, in order to fulfill your gift request. You are responsible for providing correct and operational contact information (such as an email address or mobile number) for the Gift Card Recipient and ensuring that the Gift Card Recipient has consented to you providing and us using the contact information of the Recipient for the purposes of sending the Gift Card. The electronic message may identify you as the sender, and may also disclose your email address, Gift Card amount, the name of the Gift Card Recipient, and that you are using the Gift Card Service.

    b) Claiming a Gift. We will provide to the Gift Card Recipient a website address that he/she can use to claim the Gift Card. It is important that you and the Gift Card Recipient keep this website address confidential, as anyone who has this website address will be able to use funds on the Gift Card.

    c) Cancelling or Resending a Gift. Once you have initiated a gift, the transaction cannot be cancelled. We will not notify you to tell you whether or not the Gift Card Recipient has received the email, text message or other electronic message. It is your responsibility to ensure that the Gift Card Recipient has received that message. If the Gift Card Recipient did not receive that message, you may choose to resend the gift using the Gift Card Service.
  6. RBC Digital Banking Security. For clarity, Gift Cards and the balances on those Gift Cards are not Accounts within the meaning of this Agreement. This means that notwithstanding any provision of this Agreement, if an unauthorized transaction is conducted through Software that affects your Gift Cards and the balances on those Gift Cards, you will not be reimbursed for any resulting loss to your Gift Cards.
