Interac Online is a secure and easy way to pay for goods or services at participating online merchants, directly from your RBC Royal Bank account.

To pay for online purchases with Interac, your must have entered your activation code.

Using Interac Online

Payments can only be made from Canadian dollar accounts.

Follow these simple steps to pay for purchases over the Internet using Interac Online:

  1. Shop for goods and services at participating online merchants.
  2. Select Interac Online as a payment method.
  3. Choose RBC Royal Bank from the list of Participating Financial Institutions.
  4. Sign-in to Online Banking with your Client Card number and your existing Online Banking password.
  5. Choose one of your Canadian accounts as the payment account.
  6. Confirm the payment through Online Banking and you will then be returned to the merchant's website.
  7. Print your purchase confirmation page from the merchant's website. Keep the purchase confirmation page for your records.

Using Interac Online if I am not an Online Banking client

You must use Online Banking to use Interac Online. It's easy to enrol for Online Banking. From the RBC Royal Bank personal banking home page, click on "Enrol Online NOW!"

The process should take approximately 10 minutes.

Upon completing the enrolment process, you will be able to purchase items up to a maximum $100 daily limit. This purchase limit may be increased once you have unlimited access to Online Banking, which is granted after you have entered your activation code

Merchants accepting Interac Online

It is up to each merchant to decide which payment options they want to offer. Interac Online is available to all online merchants that do business in Canada and have a relationship with a Canadian debit/credit card processor.

Interac Online Daily limit

Your daily purchase limit for the Interac Online service depends on the third party payment limits associated with your Client Card.

If you are a newly enrolled Online Banking client, your Interac Online daily purchase limit will be a maximum of $100 (Cdn.). This may increase after you activate the full suite of Online Banking features by entering your activation code.

Fees for using Interac Online

There are no additional fees for using Interac Online, however it does qualify as a payment made through Online Banking and your service package may charge fees for these debit to your account.

Confidentiality of my Online Banking Password when using Interac Online

We do not share your Password or Client Card number with online merchants.

Interac Online payments are completed through your secure Online Banking session not the merchant's site. We only use your Client Card number and Password to identify you as an Online Banking client.

You must always keep you Online Banking Password strictly confidential and not disclose or share your Password with anyone.

Assistance when using Interac Online

If you have questions or concerns about items purchased using Interac Online, please contact the online merchant. Concerns with anything you buy must be addressed directly with the merchant.
