Pay Bills

General Information

Your bill payments are remitted once a day (23:00 AST) Monday through Friday. Only payments made before 18:00 your local time will be remitted on the day the payment is made. Payments made after 18:00 on Friday and all payments made on the weekends will not be sent to payees until Monday evening. The payee may take 3 to 5 business days to post the payment to your account. In addition, some payees only accept the date they actually process your payment and not the date you make your payment in Online Banking. As a result, you may want to check with the payees to find out how far in advance you should make the payments in order to meet their due date.

If you enrolled in Online Banking after March 15, 2001 you must enter your activation code in order to pay credit cards issued by another lender or to pay another RBC Royal Bank customer online. This Activation Code is mailed to your address after you enroll in Online Banking.

To pay a bill, first create your payee list. If you're already set up to pay bills via ATM, Telephone Banking or through your branch, then you're ready to go.

To pay a bill:

  1. Go to "Pay bills and transfer funds".
  2. Enter the desired amount and the account you would like to withdraw from. To send the payment to the desired biller, select the biller from the "To:" drop-down list.

  3. Complete the rest of the payment details and select "Continue".
  4. If all of the details are correct, select "Confirm".


  1. To cancel a same-day bill payment after clicking "Confirm", advise us by telephone at 1-800-769-2511 prior to 6:00 pm your local time.
  2. Paying a bill with your RBC Royal Bank credit card is considered a cash advance. For each bill you pay like this, there’s a fee of $3.50 and the payment amount will count towards your daily cash advance limit.
