Who is eligible to submit a quote?

Any resident of Canada (except residents of British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan) who is a licensed driver may submit an auto insurance quote request to RBC Insurance.

If more than one driver will be on the policy, we recommend that the registered owner of the vehicle(s) or the intended policyholder request the quote.

How much time will it take me to submit my quote request?

This depends on several factors, including how many drivers and vehicles you are including in your quote. The average visitor, requesting a quote for 2 vehicles and 2 drivers, will need between 10 and 15 minutes to submit a quote. We will ask you questions specific to you and your vehicles, so you can submit your request as quickly as possible.

Do I need any documents or paperwork on hand to submit my quote request?

You may find it helpful to have the following documents on hand as you complete your quote request:

  • Drivers licence (or licence information) for each driver
  • Registration certificates or green slips for each vehicle you want to insure
  • Your current auto insurance policy documents

What kinds of questions will I be asked?

To give you an accurate quote—and ensure we offer you the right coverage and discounts—we will ask you to provide:

  • Personal information (such as name, gender and date of birth) for yourself and other drivers you want to include in your quote
  • Driving history and licence information for yourself and any other drivers
  • Details about the vehicles you want to insure and how these vehicles will be used

Why do some questions request such detailed information?

It's our goal to give you the most accurate quote possible so you can make an informed purchase. To do that, we need to ask you for certain details.

How precise do I have to be when I estimate vehicle value or kilometres?

Don't worry. While we'd like you to be as precise as possible, we also understand that exact numbers can be hard to pin down. Give your "best guess"—you can confirm this information after your quote and call us if the information is significantly different from the estimate you provided. If you save your quote, you can also come back and change the information online.

I don't remember the date of a moving violation, accident or claim. What do I do?

It's okay if you don't remember the exact month and year of a moving violation, accident or claim involving you or another driver you want to include in your quote. Just give us an approximate date. You can call us with the correct date after you receive your quote. If you save your quote, you can also come back and change the information online.
