Actively working

Full-time and self-employment means actively working in Canada at least 20 hours a week, on average (based on the 28 days immediately prior to the application date), for wages or expectation of profit in the regular duties of your employment or own occupation.

To be actively working, you must be carrying out your regular duties. You will also be considered actively at work if absent only due to a scheduled day off or vacation day, but otherwise able to carry out your regular employment/occupation duties.

Actively at work does not include leaves of absence such as, but not limited to, sick leaves.

If seasonally employed and not working, you must be capable of performing you regular job. To qualify as a seasonal employee, the work season must have a beginning and end, and you must have a proven work history as a seasonal employee with expectations of returning to the same occupation next season.

You may be required to provide proof that you were actively at work when you applied for the coverage if you submit a claim.
