We can do better — together!
At RBC Royal Bank, we have a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. From the RBC Environmental Blueprint, to our $50-million commitment to the RBC Blue Water Project™ we are continually seeking ways to reduce our environmental footprint, encourage sustainability and offer you environmentally responsible products and services. In fact, in 2009 RBC Royal Bank was named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers and one of the world’s top 100 sustainable companies.
Small changes add up
We believe that every single action taken by every person and organization makes a difference. Even the smallest of changes can be meaningful, because together, they add up to a large positive impact.
We also know that the combined actions of our clients make a very impressive difference. That’s why we offer you environmentally responsible banking products and services.
By taking one small, simple step – such as choosing to receive your bank statements electronically through our eStatements service – you’re helping to save trees, water and energy as well as reduce the harmful emissions that are produced in manufacturing, printing and transporting paper-based statements.
When you join with all of our other clients who have chosen paperless eStatements, you can see how this really adds up over the course of the year.
It’s easy to make small changes
To make it easy for you to make a difference, here are three simple banking changes that contribute to environmental sustainability. Each one takes just a moment to implement.
1. Enroll in RBC Online Banking1. If you’re not already using this powerful tool, sign up today. RBC Online Banking is an easy way to complete everyday transactions — such as paying bills, transferring money, checking your balance, and more — from the comfort and convenience of your computer. RBC Online Banking can save you time (as well as transportation emissions), when you don’t require in-person service or advice from an RBC representative. And with the RBC Online Banking Security Guarantee, if an unauthorized transaction is conducted through your RBC Online Banking service, you will be reimbursed 100% for any resulting losses to those accounts2.
2. Switch from paper statements to eStatements. With the click of your mouse, you can switch to electronic statements (eStatements) from paper statements. Not only are they better for the environment, but eStatements are also easier to access and more secure than paper statements. Your information is archived electronically for seven years.
3. Communicate by email address. By allowing us to communicate with you electronically instead of sending paper-based newsletters and notices, you’ll help us cut down even further on paper and energy use. And, when you include your email address in your RBC Online Banking profile, there are significant operational benefits. For example if your access is ever blocked or you need to recover your password, we can solve such issues with you via email, saving you a call or a visit to your nearest branch. Check that your email address is up-to-date by logging in now to RBC Online Banking.
