How it Works

Tap and pay in just 3 easy steps:

Step 1

Look for the contactless symbol on the payment terminal

Both Visa Paywave and Mastercard Paypass work at contactless terminals, as well as mobile wallets.

Step 2

Hold your card or mobile wallet on the reader for 1-2 seconds

Simply tap and pay with contactless payments for purchases under $250.

Step 3

Wait for approval, and be on your way!

With a "beep" or green light, you’re good to go.

Where to Pay

You can tap your card at most retailers, including coffee shops, grocery stores, restaurants and gas stations for any purchase up to $250. If you don't see the contactless symbol when making a purchase, either swipe or insert your chip card into the terminal to pay.

Using Your Smartphone to Pay

When you load your RBC debit or credit cards into the RBC Mobile app, you can pay for purchases up to $250 with your mobile device.
