The following outlines the fees and charges that may be applicable to RBC Visa Gift Cards purchased at an RBC Royal Bank branch. Fees are subject to change.

Maintenance Fee None
Replacement Fee None
Expiry Fee None. While RBC Visa Gift Cards require an expiry date for payment processing, the funds loaded to the card WILL NOT EXPIRE. Should there be funds remaining on your card after the expiry date found on the front of your card, please call 1-866-466-8079 to find out how to have a new card issued with the remaining balance carried over.
Foreign Currency Conversion Transactions in a foreign currency will be converted into Canadian dollars no later than the date we post the transaction to your Card at an exchange rate that is 2.5% over a benchmark rate Royal Bank of Canada pays the payment card company on the date of conversion.

Card Purchase Fee

In addition to the initial value loaded to the card, there is a one-time fee thereafter of $3.95 charged to the person purchasing the card.

 

Note:
Effective November 1, 2012, the funds loaded to RBC Visa Gift Cards do not expire. If you have a card that starts with the numbers 451016 and has an expiry date of November 2012 (11/12) or later, it is eligible to have funds carried forward to a new card after expiry. Call 1-866-466-8079 to find out how to have a new card issued with the remaining balance carried over at no additional charge. If your card begins with numbers other than 451016 or expired on or before October 2012 (10/12), the balance that remained at the time the card expired cannot be carried forward to a new card.
