FAQs
Annual fees generally reflect the added benefits of a card. While no annual fee cards may still offer rewards, earning or redemption rates are often lower. When choosing a card, consider whether the benefits align with your lifestyle and are worth the cost. Explore our Credit Card Fees 101 Guide to learn more or you can check out one of RBC’s no annual fee credit cards.
In most cases, the annual fee is billed upon your first billing cycle after receiving and activating your card credit card. It will then be charged annually thereafter on your account anniversary and will appear on your statement like other charges.
In some cases, students, seniors, and clients with multiple RBC banking products can be eligible for a credit card annual fee rebate.
For example:
- Students can receive an annual fee rebate for the RBC ION+ Visa credit card.
- RBC VIP Banking account holders may qualify for an annual fee rebate of an eligible card
- Signature No Limit Banking account holders may qualify for an annual fee rebate of an eligible card
Some credit cards include minimum income requirements primarily to ensure the client has the financial capacity to repay debt. Because these cards often offer higher rewards benefits and higher credit limits, minimum income requirements are set to assist in the eligibility criteria for these cards.
An additional card fee is the cost of adding an extra card to your credit card account for another person, such as a family member or another authorized user. It's important to note that authorized users are not responsible for repayment of any balances on the account, whereas co-applicants share responsibility for the debt with the primary cardholder.
